In 2006 Del City adopted the 1345th Transportation Company, Oklahoma National Guard who served a year in Iraq territory.  Upon their return In 2007, Del City joined forces with neighboring city, Midwest City and the Army National Guard to host an historic homecoming welcoming event for the Oklahoma Army National Guard 1345th Transportation Company.  “The Army Times reported that this was the largest homecoming parade since World War II, with over 20,000 in attendance.
