This is manual labor in the performance of semiskilled tasks of a physically demanding nature. Work involves responsibility for performing heavy manual labor, general construction and related servicing tasks in public areas and street rights-of-way.
Work in this classification is skilled in nature, using a variety of expensive and complex equipment. Most of the work is semi-routine, following established policies and procedures; however, a portion requires initiative and independent judgment concerning techniques and methods by which tasks are to be performed. This is a responsible skilled work of a mechanical nature in the maintenance of the sewer system. Employees in this class have the responsibility for the operation and general maintenance of the collection system maintained by the City. Work is performed with some latitude for the use of independent judgment in some work methods and procedures while carrying out the maintenance on the collection line.
